Netherlands-based songbird Judy Blank took over five years to follow up on her debut LP, ‘When The Storm Hits’, with last fall’s impressively accomplished full-length ‘Morning Sun’. The album, a 70’s inspired coming-of-age confessional effortlessly mixes traditional folk and groovy Americana. Despite her European roots, Blank sounded perfectly at home under the umbrella of folk-based Americana, traveling back and forth to the United States, playing shows across Europe opening for artists such as SUSTO and Langhorne Slim, and showcasing at South by Southwest festival in Austin this year. After the ‘Morning Sun’ album release, Judy felt restless and wrote a lot of rawer songs, which offer a new chapter of growing up and are going to be featured on her upcoming ‘Morning After’ EP. ‘Goldmine’ is the first release from the new record. The single shows the blossoming confidence of a young adult, and sounds fuzzy and fun, reminding of the early days of Cage The Elephant.

Judy on Goldmine: ”You don’t have to be a touring musician to know what it feels like to need a goldmine. It’s a cynical song about greed, about grass always being greener on the other side, and being tempted to change who you are in order to get what you want. We’re currently living in a society where appearance, money and status seem to matter more than ever, and ”Goldmine” is a playful, cynical reminder to not let that stuff get the better of you.”
